Kiel Week - regattas, ships and lots of music
The Kiel Week is the ultimate sailing event, and at the same time a very special summer festival. Hundreds of ships evoke maritime magic, and up to 2,000 events attract visitors from many countries.
The biggest sailing event in the world
Tall ships, historic steamers and hundreds of sailing yachts transform the Kiel Börde into a sea of colour during the Windjammer Sailing Parade. The parade is the highlight of Kiel Week, which has been as much a part of summer for boaters as sun and water for over 100 years. Originally reserved for naval officers and merchants, the event is now a festival for everyone. In addition to the regattas, numerous concerts, the sailing cinema on the inner fjord and the famous closing fireworks make Kiel Week the highlight of the northern German festival calendar.
Maritime flair in the "Sailing City"
There's a good reason why Schleswig-Holstein's capital, which is shaped by water, calls itself the "Sailing City". Its harbour, and events like the Mussel Week, make it particularly attractive.
