In Hessian Sausage Heaven

Northern Hesse not only boasts the only national park in the state, but also four nature parks. The densely wooded hilly landscape has also produced delicious specialities.

A delicious cultural asset: the "Ahle Wurscht" sausage

The "Ahle Wurscht", which farmers used to bring with them to the fields as sustenance, tastes strong and full of character. The sausages made with pork, pepper and sometimes a touch of garlic or caraway are matured in curing chambers that are not called "sausage heaven" for nothing.
