2025 Q1 - Germany's incoming business climate continues positive trend in the new year

The current business situation is seen as particularly promising by the GNTB's travel experts.

The GNTB Travel Industry Expert Panel predicts an improvement in the business climate for the international travel industry to Germany in 2025. As a result, in the first quarter of 2025, the Business Climate Index reached 56 points, which represents an increase of 3 points compared with the previous quarter.

Moreover, the positive development in the evaluation of the current business situation is worth noting. While it was still at 43 points in the first quarter of 2024, it improved to 54 points in the first quarter of 2025. Consequently, the value for the current business situation is 11 points higher than in the same quarter last year.

In addition, expectations for future business development also remain promising. At 58 points in the first quarter of 2025, the experts are just as positive about future business development as they were in the fourth quarter of 2024. Thus, this indicates a continued optimistic outlook for future market development.

The aim of the GNTB's Industry Expert Panel is to gather and present industry sentiment on inbound tourism to Germany. It provides insights into the current and future market assessments of international CEOs and key accounts from 34 countries. Furthermore, it provides information on visitors’ demand patterns, as well as on the latest trends and future developments in the travel and tourism industry.

From the first quarter of 2025 onwards, some markets—including Sweden, Finland, Norway, Hungary, Slovenia, and Canada—were no longer included in the survey due to market structure adjustments. Nevertheless, the GNTB Travel Industry Expert Panel remains an important indicator of how the international travel industry feels about coming to Germany and provides valuable insights into current and future business expectations.
